Job Description

Schaeffler manufactures high-precision components and systems for engine, transmission, and chassis applications.  Schaeffler is located in Fort Mill, South Carolina and comprises of two manufacturing plants with a focus in the automotive and industrial line of business. The CNC Machinist Program provides apprentices with professional qualifications to operate and troubleshoot CNC equipment to produce high quality parts using blueprints, CAD models, and sketches.  The apprentice will also be provided with the necessary education to operate specialty inspection equipment and offset changes on various tools. The overall Apprenticeship program is designed to provide a combination of classroom and hands-on training to develop skilled trade workers. The goal is to develop highly skilled workers that support growing business needs and understand the advanced technology of high-speed production facilities.  The Apprenticeship Program consists of individuals taking manufacturing related courses at York Technical College as well as working at the Schaeffler Plant. Apprentices will graduate with an associate’s degree from York Tech followed by a Journeyman Certificate from the Department of Labor after one and a half years of on-the-job training.
