Zoo Keeper

Jess is a zookeeper in a primate department. She enjoys the career as she has the opportunity to make relationships with animals.  A typical day involves feeding, cleaning, preparing the exhibits for guests.  The job involves training the animals to give them enrichment and encouragement in learning new experiences.  The best way to start is to get experience by working as a volunteer at a zoo or animal sanctuary.  Networking with different animal organizations is a great way to gain knowledge and understand the opportunities.  Look for animal studies certificates and for more advancement a degree in zoology would be good.
